Om & Inner Stillness
Short Talk & Mantra Stillness Class (15 mins)
The Philosophy of Om
Om was discovered by ancient rishis in India, perceived as a frequency or a sound known as nada. This vibrational sound is known as a beej (seed) mantra which consists of three ranges of sound which consist of ultra low sounds, ultra low frequencies and ultra low vibrations. But not low frequency as in a not good frequency! Low frequency, sound and vibration meaning its quite low in our hearing range and therefore carries a slow vibration rather than high-pitched sound.
Three Parts of A-U-M
Sometimes you’ll see the mantra written as ‘Om’ and other times as ‘Aum’. This is because ‘Om’ is the Sanskrit spelling and ‘Aum’ is the teaching uses to describe the three sounds:
A = jāgrat waking state
U = svapna dreaming state
M = suṣupti deep sleep
Turīya (तुरीय) is the term used to describe the silence that follows each sound of Om and pure conciousness itself, which is considered the most important part.
The rest is in today’s class which I hope you enjoy! 💕
